Your first evening at Ember & Thyme

Two players, two devices, one 45–60-minute fantasy quest. This preview is still being tested.

Player 1: host in the iOS app

1. Ask the organizer to install the native Pair & Parry app on your iPhone or iPad. There is no public App Store download yet.
2. Open the app, tap Host this adventure, enter your display name, and tap Create live room.
3. Share the browser link and six-character room code with Player 2. The host device is also Player 1.

Player 2: join in the app or a browser

1. In the native app, choose Join an Adventure and enter your name and room code. The server confirms your Player 2 seat.
2. Or open the private tester link in Safari or Chrome and enter the same details on the join page. Browser gameplay remains fully supported.
3. Each player saves a character and taps I’m ready. The host starts the connection check.

Once this preview is hosted online, the two phones only need internet access. A local address such as localhost or 10.x.x.x still needs the organizer’s Mac and local network.

Things to try together

• Submit one choice first. The other player should see that it is sealed, without seeing the answer. Submit both to reveal.
• In combat, take turns attacking, defending, and using Class abilities. Check that Health, resources, conditions, Fate Rolls, partner help, and Pair & Parry openings stay synchronized on both screens.
• Refresh Player 2’s browser when testing the browser path, or briefly background either iOS app. Return to the same room, slot, and scene.
• Read your different private clues aloud, try a hint, finish the story, and restart with your saved characters.

Your data and feedback

Use nicknames and skip any optional questions. Answers you supply can appear in the shared story. Guest saves belong to this browser or device; clearing its storage or changing devices can lose access.

Delete my game data removes the shared room and your saved character, affecting both players’ run. It does not delete your partner’s saved character or anonymous login. Rooms expire after 24 hours; expiry does not automatically erase stored data during this preview.

Send feedback to hello@pairandparry.com: device/browser, scene title, what you expected, what happened, and the approximate play time. Avoid screenshots of private clues, names, or invitation links unless needed.
